Quanta Cloud Technology (QCT), a datacenter solution subsidiary of Quanta Computer, will team up with Intel and RedHat to set up a telecom solution laboratory in the Silicon Valley in February 2018, according to QCT president Mike Yang.
The planned laboratory will focus on the development of cloud solutions for 5G central offices with plans to debut some of related solutions at the upcoming Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2018, Yang said.
QCT has been developing related CORD (central office re-architected as a datacenter) products in cooperation with Open Networking Foundation (ONF), according to industry sources.
QCT's cloud business is expected to grow by a double-digit rate in 2018, buoyed by increasing demand from not only first-tier ISPs (Internet service providers) but also second-tier cloud service providers and telecom clients, Yang stated.
To meet increasing demand, QCT is currently ramping up the capacity of its server product lines in North America and Europe, Yang revealed.
In addition to cooperating with Intel and RedHat, QCT will also tie up with VMware to develop related cloud and 5G solutions, Yang said.
