ICE boosts IPTV, triple-play in Costa Rica

As it continues to extend its fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) network, Costa Rica’s ICE has increased the reach of its IPTV platform and triple-play services.

Under the Kölbi brand, the State-owned company has offered advanced IPTV in its portfolio since 2013, however, the service was only available for a few customers as the telco lacked a fibre network.

Now, ICE has announced that the IPTV platform is ready for subscribers in the departments of Barva de Heredia, Quepos-Manuel Antonio, Santa Teresa, Mal País and El Carmen de Cóbano.

“We are moving forward to connect Costa Rica’s towns with a 100% fibre network. With this new offer, residential customers, small and medium-sized enterprises and the business clients will be enabled to subscribe to triple-play solution with advanced TV, high-speed broadband and voice,” said Diego González, project manager, ICE.

As with many other digital, IP-based pay-TV services, the Kölbi platforms delivers a comprehensive offering of digital channels, including premium packages such as FOX and HBO/MAX, and includes features like DVR, video-on-demand (VOD) and multiscreen viewing.
